Meningitis B

Understandably, we have had a lot of queries about the Meningitis outbreak in Kent, and in particular, patients requesting to have the Meningitis B vaccination.

In Wales the Men B vaccine is routinely offered to babies at 8 weeks of age, 12 weeks of age and 12-13 months of age (since 2015). At this moment in time there is no vaccination process for children or adults outside of these age groups. Men B for children over the age of 2 years and/or adults can be sourced privately, unless the person is in an at risk group and we would then be guided by the patient’s consultant.

We are an urban GP practice covering Queensferry, Sealand, Garden City, Sandycroft, Mancot, Ewloe, Hawarden, Shotton, Connah’s Quay. We have a practice population of approximately 8200 patients.
